Pennsylvania is situated in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States, next to New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia and Ohio. It also has a coast on Lake Erie.
Pennsylvania is one of only 4 states to be officially called a ‘Commonwealth’ rather than a state. However, the term ‘state’ is used for ease and this designation has no constitutional bearing. The other states are Kentucky, Massachusetts and Virginia.

The state was home to the first zoo in the country, Philadelphia Zoo. Other attractions include 121 state parks which offer free admission. Hunting is very popular and this along with fishing and fur-taking generate the state a good income.
